"Stolen" Book Quiz

Do you snack while you read? If so, favourite reading snack:
No. It is kind of hard to eat and read...

What is your favourite drink while reading?
My favorite drink at all times is water.

Do you tend to mark your books as you read, or does the idea of writing in books horrify you?
I had no problem highlighting important passages during my college days. I still do not have an issue with this but I guess I have not felt the need to do it.

How do you keep your place while reading a book? Bookmark? Dog-ears? Laying the book flat open?
I dog-ear or use a spare scrap of paper. I never seem to have a bookmark handy when I need it! Fortunately, with the kindle, it remembers where I have left off so there is no need for a bookmark.

Fiction, non-fiction, or both?
Both!

Are you a person who tends to read to the end of a chapter, or can you stop anywhere?
I would rather stop at a natural conclusion but there are times I will "pause" at the end of a paragraph.

Are you the type of person to throw a book across the room or on the floor if the author irritates you?
Yes. I distinctly remember finishing The Pigman and ripping the front cover and then throwing it out, as in, putting it in the trash. I cannot recall another book eliciting such a response from me.

If you come across an unfamiliar word, do you stop and look it up right away?
If I am using the kindle it is very convenient to look up a word because the dictionary is built-in. If I am reading an actual book I am usually (99.9% of the time) too lazy to grab the dictionary.

What are you currently reading?
Daughter of Fortune by Isabel Allende.

What is the last book you bought?
Three Cups of Tea.

Are you the type of person that reads one book at a time, or can you read more than one?
I would rather read one book at a time.

Do you have a favourite time/place to read?
I like reading during the day - I am usually too relaxed/subdued to read in the evening. It just makes me want to go to sleep. I like curling up on the couch to read but I also really like sitting outside in the sun, if it is not too hot.

Do you prefer series books or stand alones?
I would love to find a series that I like. It just so happens that most of the books I have liked have been stand alones. If I like a book I will seek out other works by the author.

Is there a specific book or author you find yourself recommending over and over?
No. Most of the people I interact with are not big readers but if I was to recommend a specific book it would be The Help. I think most people could grab onto it and benefit from the story and characters. At the same time, there are other books I have enjoyed even more that I would not recommend because I think the subject matter is touchy, like Middlesex.

How do you organize your books? (by genre, title, author's last name, etc.)
My books are in multiple places. Some are on my bookshelf in random order and others are in a trunk under my desk and still others are in my bedroom at my parents' house. One day when I have my own library I will get them all together and group them by author or genre.
